Good for developing your cardio vascular fitness, upper body strength and coordination, sitting volleyball is also a fun and sociable sport.
An adaptation of volleyball, the sitting game is a Paralympic sport and the University Club and Department are already trialling it at the Jubilee Sports Centre on a Thursday evening.
We’re feeling generous and thought that we’d also give you the opportunity to try sitting volleyball during Any-Body Month this Wednesday – 17th March. The session will be lead by experts from Volleyball England.
It will involve practising drills, skills, digging, blocking, shooting and serving – all with your bottoms firmly placed on the floor. Be warned the removal of the slightest bum cheek from the floor will receive a raised eyebrow and a “tut” from the coach.
Good hand-eye coordination combined with some impressive bum shuffling is what I’ve found to be the winning formula in this game.
It’s definitely a sport where you can have fun and get fit. So why not come along and give it a try?
Wednesday 17th March
Jubilee Sports Centre
3- 4pm, 4 – 5pm
