Any-Body Month 2011 Preview – What is Aqua Fit?

Posted on: March 22, 2011

The final weekend of Any-Body Month 2011, sees the re-emergence of Aqua Fit at the University Swimming Pool. “Any-Body” has the opportunity to come down and try the water based fitness class, which is running on Saturday afternoon at either 2pm or 3.30pm.

The Aqua-Fit session will be run by the lively and lovely Anna Lavan who, along with her aqua-fit and swimming teacher qualifications, is a level two disability instructor and a swimming development officer with CP Sport. She is therefore both capable and experienced with making her sessions accessible and fun for Any-Body.

Aqua Fit fun during last year's Any-Body Month event

The session is going to be lots of fun and you might even get the opportunity to try some dance moves – aqua styley. If Anna’s last aqua fit session was anything to go by, she’ll have you conga-ring around the pool before you know it!

Just in case you needed a little bit more persuading, we’ve included some of the benefits of aqua fit below:

  • Water exercise doesn’t get much more inclusive than Aquafit.
  • It promotes fitness for life and aims to maintain stamina, strength, and suppleness.
  • It is also good at reducing stress levels.
  • The water acts as a cushion protecting joints such as the spine and ankles.
  • You can tone and develop muscle groups in a low impact environment.
  • Water movement around the body has a massaging effect, helping to work the less used muscles during exercise.
  • Participants can work at a level which suits them
  • Cardio vascular fitness can be improved
  • Aquafit is fun!

We hope that everyone comes along for a fun, free, and fabulous day of watery fun – hope to see you there!
